Fried indulgence: vegan chili fries with Daiya from FrySmith
Opps, I did it again. I cheated. I couldn't help it - I had an opportunity to try FrySmith for the first time and I wanted to review them. Though my stomach wasn't very happy about ingesting the oil and soy, my taste buds were thankful for the treat.

Cups of Joy: sweet treats worth cheating for
My recent change in diet may seem pretty boring and bland, and you may wonder what happened to the Eco-Vegan Gal who ate greasy meals and sweet treats. Truth be told, I love the way I've been eating, but I do take an occasional detour and indulge. Earlier this week I was tempted by a box of gourmet eco-vegan peanut butter cups - how could I say no? Well, I didn't!

Almond milk, papaya, and peach smoothie
I recently made a big batch of almond milk, purchased a papaya because of claims that it aids digestion, and was given some peaches: so I decided to blend them all together and it resulted in a delicious, lightly sweet smoothie. Give it a try!

Q.bel double dark chocolate wafer bars
Q.bel recently came out with a vegan version of their chocolate wafer bars, and it is really tasty. It's about time, because I've been eyeing their products for a while but couldn't try them because they contained dairy!
All of the elements in the bars are very even: just the right amount of crunchy, sweet, and creamy. Though it is dark chocolate, it is not bitter. They are also the perfect size - it will curb your sugar & chocolate craving.
The bars are free of:
- artificial flavors
- colors
- perservatives
- high fructose corn syrup
- hydrogenated oils
You can find them at most natural markets, like Whole Foods. For a list of retailers, click here.

Millions of Milkshakes to have a vegan option again!
Last summer I was thrilled that Millions of Milkshakes had a sugar-licious vegan milkshake, and then I was super bummed a few months later when they stopped carrying it. However, I found out today that they're creating a new vegan shake!
According to their Twitter account: "Join PETA and Pamela Anderson as she creates the First ALL-VEGAN Shake at Millions of Milkshakes on Friday April 9th at 3pm"
And Pamela stated on their Facebook account:
"I did want to take a few minutes to prove that one can create a truly delicious treat without having to rely on any animal products in the process. It is going to be a Vegan Vanilla Coconut Pineapple shake! I've always liked to shake things up so I'm thrilled to create the first vegan item on the menu – and at the same time I hope to get to meet some fans and to thank everyone for their support...”
I won't be in town to witness it, but if you are it'd be a fun event to attend. When I return I'll be sure to check out the new milkshake soon and report back.

Vegan Halloween candy
Looking for yummy vegan treats for yourself or the neighbors this Halloween? Here are some brands to try out:
- Sjaak's has vegan chocolates, and some with Halloween packaging. If you're in Los Angeles you can get them from the Santa Monica CoOp, and Whole Foods might have them too. The dark chocolate peanut butter is AMAZING!
- Valentino Chocolatier in The OC has delicious gourmet chocolates, and you can order from their website too.
- Go Max Go makes vegan bars that mimic popular non-vegan varieties.
- Endangered Species Dark Chocolate treats are easy to find, especially in Whole Foods.
- Sweet and Sara has ghost marshmallows and other yummy treats. You can order them online, or you might find them in some Whole Foods.

Valentino Chocolatier Cafe
Had an amazing time at Valentino Chocolatier Cafe in The OC (Tustin). Not only were the vegan Belgium chocolates, hot chocolate, and crepes divine, but the atmosphere was very European and the owner is almost sweeter than the desserts!

Product Spotlight: hazelnut flavored Agave Nectar

I found organic hazelnut flavored Agave Nectar by Madhava at the CoOp and had to try it. I tried it in tea and I didn't love it, but it's great in coffee. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but everyonce in a while it's a nice treat and I love hazelnut flavor. You can also use it on ice cream, pancakes, italian soda, or whatever you want hazelnut on. It has the perfect amount of flavor and just the right amount of sweet.

Trader Joes: Organic Brown Rice Marshmallow Treats

Went to the new Trader Joes in Westwood and it is very nice - big, clean, and open (and free, easy parking). I found a few new vegan treats there, and the first that I tried was Organic Brown Rice Marshmallow Treats. Unfortunately, I didn't think they were that tasty. They were ok, but a little bland and the texture is more crunchy than chewy or creamy. But if you miss Rice Krispie Treats and want a vegan alternative, these are decent and inexpensive (apparently Liz of Yo Soy! loves them!).

Vegan donut shops on the West Coast: video reviews
In light of all the drama surrounding Dee's Donuts in Los Angeles, I thought it was good timing to celebrate two wonderful donuts shops with excellent vegan options: Mighty O' in Seattle and Ronald's in Las Vegas.

Mint water

I have enjoyed MetroMint waters for a while, but today I discovered my new favorite flavor: Chocolatemint. It's water flavored with mint, and in this case, cocoa essence. They are not sweeteners or preservatives, just a refreshing flavor. Plus, it's a great alternative to eating chocolate when you crave it!
Delicious tea

I bought some great tea today from The Republic of Tea called Rose Petal Tea. It's a limited edition, so get it while you can. I got it from Pharmaca and it was half off.

Product Spotlight: Have'A Corn Chips
I can't believe I haven't written about Have'A Corn Chips! These are the best chips I've ever had. I recently learned how to curb my addiction, but it's been hard. There was a period of time where I simply had to have them all the time. And it's always been impossible to avoid eating the entire bag in one sitting. Usually I'll finish them by the time I arrive home in the car from the market. Luckily they're slightly expensive, considering the amount inside. One bag will run you about $2 for a pretty small portion. M Cafe sells them for $3.25! I wonder if they're macrobiotic...

Vegan finds at Whole Foods
- Ricemellow - vegan marshmallow substitute, SO GOOD, though I was a little concerned at first because I didn't expect it to be yellow...it tastes just like marshmallow, if not better
- Hot & Sour Soup, by Whole Foods (fresh) - it's so hard to find good vegan hot & sour and I am very impressed with this
- Rice & Lentil Pilaf (organic), by Whole Foods - this is really good with Earth Balance
- Glutino Cinnamon French Toast (frozen) - amazing with Earth Balance and syrup
- Green & Black's Organic Hot Chocolate Drink - yummy with rice milk and Ricemellow
